Finally a musical play for kids, about kids and by kids. Summer of 2006 a talented group of Highlands County kids worked hard in the first Moore Performing Arts, Inc. Summer Theatre Program to bring to life this wonderful story about eleven orphaned kids who live at the RUNTS institute.

Denise is an only child and spoiled brat. Her parents decided she could use a major attitude adjustment so they came up with the perfect solution. Have her volunteer at RUNTS Institute, an orphanage for street kids, for the summer. At RUNTS she is awarded the nickname Snooty by the rest of the gang...Potty Mouth, Thief, Drama Queen, Bully Tilly, Husky Jeans, Manny Faces, Fattie Annie, Dreamer and the Worm Kids. Denise gets off to a bad start with Bully Tilly and has an eye opener when Manny Faces gets hurt as a result of her fighting. In the end Denise gains a new adopted brother and is a catalyst to forming a student mentor program with her class.

What does RUNTS mean? Well, we are not quite sure. Rumor has it that it is an acronym for Rescuing Underprivileged Nuisances To Society but that may not be true. One thing we do know is RUNTS will give you a clear insight into some serious issues that many of today's kids face and it might make you quite thankful for your own life. It may even inspire you to positively change your community. Packed with singing, music and dance, all performed by kids, RUNTS is a fun show you don't want to miss. If you like Annie, Oliver or the Little Rascals you will love RUNTS. RUNTS features original music and lyrics by Rachel A. Moore, Kyle Tolar, Stephanie Wortinger and Andres Sapp.

RUNTS has recently been submitted to Plays, Inc. for possible publishing in order to supply the demand of producing the show nation wide.
